Repeal Day Radio

Normally I'm unenthused about holidays invented by corporations. But this week I'm giving Dewar's scotch a pass on their homemade holiday, Repeal Day. Repeal of Prohibition, that is. The 21st Amendment - making booze legal again - was ratified on December 5th, 1933.

A 1933 newsreel from Universal reported the revival of "old-time hi-larity":

To celebrate, this week's radio show was three hours of songs about liquor, beer, wine, and everything in between. Listen to the first hour here.

Fun Fact: My state of Michigan was the first to vote for the 21st Amendment. The 36th state to ratify, ending prohibition? Utah.

My Dream Car
